چکیده

We present an update to experiment E91{004, a measurement of parity violating elastic electron scattering from He at the location of the rst maximum of the He charge form factor. E91{004 was approved in 1993 with an \A" rating for 85 days of beam. The experiment will use a beam energy of 3.3 GeV, a 20 cm long high pressure helium target, and the two Hall A spectrometers at 13.5 and 3.2 GeV/c to detect scattered electrons. The parity-violating amplitude is sensitive to the contribution of strange quarks to the structure of He. In the simple one-body approximation of the helium wave function, this measurement will be sensitive to the nucleon's strange electric form factor at Q = 0:6 (GeV/c). Because He is a (J=0, T=0) nucleus, clean information on the strange electric form factor can be determined with a single measurement with little theoretical uncertainty. In view of the anticipated performance of the polarized source of 100 A delivery at 80% polarization, we request reapproval of 65 days of beam.

The G0 Parity Violation Experiment: Overview and Status after the First Commissioning Run

The basis of the G0 experiment is a parity-violating process giving access to the strange form factors of the proton. It requires the measurement of a set of asymmetries, in elastic electron scattering from hydrogen and quasi-elastic scattering from deuterium, at different Q2 and at different angles. The experimental site is the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab.), Newport Ne...

Measurement of strange-quark contributions to the nucleon's form factors at Q(2) = 0.230 (GeV/c)(2).

We report on a measurement of the parity-violating asymmetry in the scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons on unpolarized protons at a Q2 of 0.230 (GeV/c)(2) and a scattering angle of theta (e) = 30 degrees - 40 degrees. Using a large acceptance fast PbF2 calorimeter with a solid angle of delta omega = 0.62 sr, the A4 experiment is the first parity violation experiment to count indivi...

We propose a measurement of the neutron electric form factor GEn at high four– momentum transfer values of Q = 1.3, 2.4, and 3.4 (GeV/c) in double polarized semi-exclusive 3 He( e, e′n) scattering in quasi–elastic kinematics by measuring the asymmetry AT of the cross section. Results from the recent JLab experiment E93-027 for elastic electron-proton scattering, using a recoil polarization tech...

2 3 Ju n 20 07 Global Analysis of Nucleon Strange Form Factors at Low Q 2

The existence of a “sea” of quarks and antiquarks in the nucleon has been firmly established in deep-inelastic lepton scattering experiments as well as in the production of dilepton pairs (the Drell-Yan process). However, demonstrating the role of these q̄q pairs in the static electromagnetic properties of the nucleon has been a more elusive and difficult task. As the lightest quark that contrib...
